Mizoram Landslide: In a tragic incident early Friday morning, a retaining wall collapsed onto a house due to landslide in Aizawl’s Thuampui locality. In this incident two individuals buried under the debris. The collapse occurred at approximately 8:00 AM following relentless rains that pounded Mizoram overnight.
The victims who buried under the debris occured dur to landslides, identified as Lalfakzuala, a resident of Ramthar Veng, Aizawl, and Lalnunmawia from Tlungvel village.
Emergency team rushed to the scene and managed to rescue Lalfakzuala from the debris and rushed to Greenwood Hospital for emergency medical care. However, search and rescue operations is going on to find and rescue Lalnunmawia, who is feared to be trapped in the landslides debris.
The continuous heavy rainfall has also triggered landslides which severely damaged a road leading to the Berawtlang Tourist Complex. This raised alarm over public safety and infrastructure stability.
