A woman from Uttar Pradesh was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her residence in Tarun Nagar, Guwahati. The deceased woman found hanging in her home on June 2, raising serious concerns about the nature of her death.
Deceased woman identified as Sangeeta Nishad from Uttar Pradesh. As per report, Sangeeta, who had married Rajesh Kewat, a native of Uttar Pradesh now residing in Guwahati, on March 7, 2025. After marriage, she was allegedly subjected to continuous mental harassment by her in-laws, according to her family members.
Rajesh Kewat is currently employed with the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL). Though originally from Uttar Pradesh, his family is now based in Guwahati, where the tragic incident occurred.
When the woman family receive the news of woman death, they immediately rushed traveled from Uttar Pradesh to Guwahati. They have since lodged a First Information Report (FIR) at Bhangagarh Police Station, directly accusing Rajesh and his family of being involved in her death.
The family has alleged murder and demanded a full and fair investigation into the circumstances surrounding Sangeeta’s death. Further investigation is going on.
