On 5 January 2024 a team of Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption success to trap red handed two Assam government employee on charges of bribery. The police then arrested them after the trap. The operations unfolded in separate traps laid on a Friday.
First Trap: Samaria Revenue Circle Employee Caught Accepting Bribe
The first trap targeted of the two Assam Government Employee. One is the Samaria Revenue Circle in Assam’s Kamrup district. Supervisor Kanungo Pradip Kalita arrested while accepting a bribe at his office. Reports indicate that Kalita had demanded the bribe for correcting a name in a patta. The Anti-Corruption cell meticulously executed the operation, leading to Kalita’s immediate arrest after he accepted Rs. 3,000 as part of demanded bribe.

They share by saying, “Today Directorate of Vigilance & Anti Corruption team trapped Pradip Kalita, Supervisor Kanungo of O/O Circle Officer, Samaria Revenue Circle, Dist-Kamrup after he accepted demanded bribe in his office, from the complainant for correction of name in a patta.”
Second Trap: District Agricultural Officer of Goalpara Nabbed on Bribery Charges
In the second trap, The District Agricultural Officer of Goalpara, Budheswar Das. He arrested on alleged bribery charges after accepting Rs. 20,000 for releasing the bills of the complainant. The Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption successfully executed this operation, marking another significant stride in their anti-corruption endeavors.

Directorate of Vigilance & Anti Corruption team trapped red handed Budheswar Das, District Agricultural Officer, Goalpara after he accepted demanded bribe in his office, from the complainant as reward for releasing bills of the complainant.”
Recovery of Tainted Money and Legal Proceedings from Two Assam Government Employee who arrested
During both operations, the tainted money was recovered from the possession of the accused officers. The seized funds, amounting to Rs. 3,000 in the first case and Rs. 20,000 in the second, confiscated in the presence of independent witnesses. The necessary legal follow-up actions are now underway as authorities delve deeper into the matter.
