A teacher has been accused of attempting to sexually assault a minor student in Bilasipara, Dhubri district of Assam. The teacher, identified as Kajal Saikia, works at Govardhanpara MV School within the Bilasipara education block.
This incident came into light when the victim girl’s parents filed a complaint at the Bilashipara police station. Following the complaint the teacher Kajal Saikia arrested and charged under case number 210/24 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
This case has faced strong criticism from political and social groups, who are asking for strict punishment for Saikia. The incident come into light in day of Teachers’ Day. This incident has made the call for responsibility even louder, as it shows a serious betrayal of trust in teachers.
The incident has not only trigged the fear but also highlighted the concerns about safety and security of the student of the schools. Further investigation is going on.
