Karimganj Police and Special Task Force jointly launched an operation in the area of Karimganj Bypass and seized huge amounts of Drugs worth Rs.115 Crore and arrested 4 individual in connection of it on Friday, August 10.
Based on tip off, Karimganj Police and STF team led by IGP (STF) Partha Sarathi Mahanta and Karimganj SP Partha Protim Das launched an operation in Puwamara, Karimganj Bypass area at around 3.00pm. There they intercepted a 12-wheeler truck. Police recovered 3.5 Lakh Yaba Tablets and 100 soap cases of heroin weighing 1.3 kg from the hidden chamber of the truck.
The market value of the seized items estimated at around Rs.115 Crore.
The individual who arrested, identified as driver Noimul Haque, Fuzail Ahmed of Nilambazar, Truck Driver Atikur Rahman and Jagajit Dev Barman.
“We carried out a joint operation based on secret information and intercepted a truck coming from a neighboring state. We arrested four people and seized 3.5 lakh Yaba tablets and 1.3 kg of heroin. The drugs valued at around Rs 115 crore,” said IGP Partha Sarathi Mahanta.
Further investigation is going on.
