Cachar flood: On 3 June, a passenger boat with 9 people overturned in Flood water at Madhurbandi area of East Sonai in Cachar district. One people died and 5 people missing.
At around 12:30 pm a passenger boat full of 9 passenger was on the way to market. In that time heavy rainfall took place which result the boat overturn. A 13-year-old boy Manowar Ahmed has lost his life in the incident and 5 people is still missing.
Another four people hold tightly an electricity pole until rescue arrived. So, they are been rescued by the NDRF teams.
The search operation is going to rescue the five people who are missing. Cachar SP Numul Mahatta and ASP Subrata Sen are presented at the scene.
Earlier, on 3 June, two drowned incidents took place. In Sonaiโs Kaptanpur area four youth drowned where two youth has come out from the water. But two youth drowned from them one dead body has been recovered and one is missing. The youth whose dead body has recovered is identified as Suraj Rabidas and the other who is missing is identified as Rippon Rabidas.
Another incident reported in Borkholaโs Dolu Kalinagar Part I, Cachar. A retired Assam police officer Tarinimohan Das aged 64 years has drwoned in Jatinga River during bath near his home.
Local officials has immediately called and search operation launched. After a long seach operation by the SDRF team his dead body was found.
The DC of Cachar district has urged people to stay away from water until the flood water recedes.
