Uttarakhand Forest Fire Reached Nainital hill town

A Forest Fire that has reported 3 days ago has now reached to the area of High Court colony of Nainital town of Uttarakhand. According to information the fire has already destroyed 33 hectors of forest land and reached the area of Nainital’s High court colony area.

The authorities have now immediately asked the Army for help to stop the fire.

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has told officials to stay alert and work together with all departments to stop the Uttarakhand Forest Fire. The Indian Army and Air Force are also helping to put out the fire. An Indian Airforce MI-17 Helicopter have seen spreading water to extinguish fire in Nainital Forest.  

Anil Joshi, who lives in the area and works as an assistant registrar of the High Court, told PTI: “The fire has spread to an old, empty house near The Pines. It hasn’t caused any damage to the High Court Colony, but it’s come very close to the buildings.”

In another incident, a fire broke out in the forest area of Lariya Kanta in Nainital district, causing partial damage to an ITI building.

On Friday, three individuals apprehended in Rudraprayag while attempting to ignite forest fires. Abhimanyu, the Divisional Forest Officer of Rudraprayag, stated that a team formed to prevent such incidents, leading to the arrests.

Naresh Bhatt, a sheep herder from Tadiyaal village in Jakholi, claimed he started the fire to facilitate the growth of fresh grass for his sheep to graze.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami plans to lead a review meeting on Saturday regarding the escalating forest fires. The fires, which spread from the forests of Kumaon division to Nainital, intensified on Friday.

The state has witnessed a sharp rise in forest fire cases over the past week, resulting in the destruction of 33.34 hectares of forest land. Within the last 24 hours alone, 31 new incidents of forest fires have reported.

The impact of the fires has felt in several villages surrounding Nainital, including Baldiyakhan, Jeolikot, Mangoli, Khurpatal, Devidhura, Bhawali, Pinus, Bhimtal, and Mukteshwar.
