At least 2 people killed and more than 20 people injured after multiple coaches of Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express derailed which caused major accident on Thursday, July 18.
The accident took place near Jhilahi Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh. Several people trapped in the derails coach and the rescue team immediately went to the scene to provide assistance to the affected people.
At least 12 coaches has derailed with several AC compartment of Gonda-Mankapur section. According to some social media post 4 AC coaches of Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express has overturn.
The train number 15904 Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express coaches has derailed. The rescue operation is going on to rescue the trapped passenger.
In a video which shared in the social media shows passenger standing with luggage nest to the railway track.

An NDRF team has reached the site. The train derailed at around 2.37 pm.
Yogi Adityanath office confirmed, โUttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath takes cognisance of the train accident in the Gonda district. He directs the officials to reach the spot immediately and expedite the relief work; gives instructions for proper treatment of the injured.โ
Himanta Biswa Sarma briefed about the accident. He stated, โHCM Dr @himantabiswa has been briefed about the derailment of Dibrugarh – Chandigarhexpress in Uttar Pradesh. HCM is monitoring the situation and the Government of Assam is in touch with relevant authorities.โ On the Dibrugarh-Chandigarh express derailment, Pankaj Singh, CPRO, North Eastern Railway says to ANI, “…medical van of Railways has reached the spot and rescue operation has been started. Helpline numbers have been issued. It happened around 2.37 pm. As per initial info, 4-5 coaches derailed…”
