Major Fire Broke out Hailakandi’s Hartbatganj Bazar
In the early morning of Thursday (January 30), a major fire broke out at Hartbatganj Bazar in Hailakandi which causes extensive damage. No casualties reported.
At least 7 shop gutted into fire, which cause damage of Lakh rupees. With the help of locals and fire fighters the fire has took under control. It is suspected that the cause of the fire is short circuit, which than spread.
Among the damaged shop one was seeds shop, two was hotel.
Further investigation is going on.
Breaking News: Cachar Police Arrests Raped and Acid Attack Accused

Cachar Police have arrested Badarul Islam, also known as Putul, for allegedly raping and attacking a mother of two with acid in Bhaga-Rajghat village. The arrest took place late on January 29 in the Kachudaram area.
A 60 years old man Sentenced to Life imprisonment by Cachar District Session Court

On Wednesday Cachar District Session Court Sentenced to life imprisonment after finding a 60 years old man guilty in the case of luring and murdering a minor girl. The accused name is Islam Uddin.
The incident took place on November 6, 2022, when the 15 years old minor girl, had gone with her to attend a wedding ceremony in Dharampur, Joypur. Suddenly, the girl went missing from the place, her mother logged a missing complaint at Joypur police station.
The accused arrested on November 8, during interrogation, he confessed to taking him into nearby forest, where he murdered her and hid her body to cover up the crime.
Following the discovery, the police filed a charge sheet on rape and murder. However, the post-mortem revealed, there was no evidence of sexual assault. On Wednesday the court sentenced the accused life imprisonment along with Rs 10,000 five.
Observance of Two-Minute Silence in Honour of Freedom Fighters at DC Office Cachar, Silchar

A two-minute silence in memory of those who sacrificed their lives during the struggle for freedom was solemnly observed today, 30th January 2025, at 11:00 A.M., at the D.C. Office, Cachar (Revenue Building Campus), Silchar.
The event was attended by the Officers and staff of the District Administration, Cachar, who came together to pay their respects and honour the legacy of our brave freedom fighters.
Assam Health Minister Ashok Singhal visit at Mahatma Gandhi Ideal Hospital

Assam Health & Family Welfare Minister Ashok Singhal made an unannounced visit to Cachar Model Hospital in Katigorah constituency today. During the inspection, he discovered that only one staff member was present, while the rest of the healthcare workers were absent.
Expressing strong dissatisfaction, Minister Singhal instructed the district’s Health Department ADC to submit a report on the absent doctors and staff. He also called for strict action against those found negligent in their duties.
