Guwahati Police has shot a thief, when he was trying to escape in Hatigaon, Guwahati on Tuesday late night. The thief currently admitted at Gauhati Medical College Hospital.
Following the snatching incident of January 27, Guwahati night police has intercepted a suspect, but opened fire when he was trying to escape. Police than immediately catch the thief and took him to GMCH for treatment.
According to DC of Police, Guwahti (East) Mrinal Deka, the accused was a repeat offender linked to multiple cases of chain snatching and vehicle theft.

The accused identified as Jewel Khan.
Taking to media, Mrinal Deka stated, โJewel Khan is a resident of Navjyoti Path in Sijubari. Based on suspicion, a team from Hatigaon Police visited Jewelโs residence, where we recovered two ATM cards and a stolen scooter.โ
He also stated that during the raid Jewel wanted to escape through the bathroom window. However police team launched searched operation and found him in Hatigaon. When they tried to catch him, he allegedly tried to attack them with sharp weapons. To protect themselves, the police had to shoot.
