A significant meeting held on Wednesday, March 26 at the old conference hall of Cachar District Commissioner’s office to address the persistent issue of urban flooding and severe waterlogging in Silchar town.
The meeting was chaired by Assisting Officer, Silchar Municipal Board, Shri Masi Topno, ACS. Circle Officer, Silchar Sadar, officials from various departments, and members of Pragatishil Nagarik Samanaya Moncha attended the meeting. The Moncha presented key observations highlighting major problem areas, while government officials provided updates on existing measures and future plans to combat waterlogging.

A significant outcome of the meeting was the decision to form a task force comprising government officials and civil society representatives.
This task force will focus in work on both quick solutions and long-term plans to stop severe flooding in the town. Officials emphasized the importance between the municipality, drainage departments and residents for effective water management. By working together this effort will provide lasting relief of waterlogging issues in Silchar.
