Police arrested teenage stepbrother in murder of two minor brother who found throat split on December 21, in Santopara, Tangla, Udalguri district.

According to reports, the step brother Neeraj Sharma was arrested for murdering his minor two stepbrothers who went missing on December 20, after leaving school, in Tangla. On December 21, the two minor brothers dead body was recovered three kilometers far from their home.

IGP Vivek Raj Singh of the Bodoland Territorial Region confirmed that Neeraj Sharma has arrested in connection with the double murder, with the murder weapon and a motorbike used inย the crime recovered” India Today NE reported.

The victims, identified as Gaurav and Kaushik had been missing since Friday after leaving home for school. Their bodies were discovered this (December 21) morning by a local resident who informed the authorities, Singh stated.

โ€œEvidence was gathered from the crime scene and suspects interrogated.ย During the investigation, it was revealed that their stepbrother Neeraj was responsible for the murders,โ€ he added.

Singh further explained that Neeraj had given the boys a ride on his motorbike to school and committed the murders at a isolated place along the way.ย โ€œSo far, there is no evidence which suggesting the involvement of anyone else in the crime,โ€ he confirmed.

When asked about the motive, Singh noted, โ€œNeeraj had been feeling neglected and upset with their father for not giving him enough attention. It appears he was struggling with depression, but no evidence of drug use has been found.โ€

On December 21, GP Singh Stated via X, “Reference murder of two young boys in Tangla Udalguri – the accused, who is related to the victims has been detained by police and the weapon of offence has been seized and evidence being collected per procedure. IGP BTR and SP Udalguri would brief the media in detail about the incident and progress of investigation.”
