In a collaborative effort targeting drug traffickers, Assam Police and the Border Security Force successfully confiscated a significant amount of Yaba tablets in the Chalchapra region of Silchar.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to social media to announce the successful operation, stating that acting on a tip-off, the Cachar Police along with the BSF conducted a search operation leading to the seizure of a vehicle carrying Yaba tablets worth Rs 10 crore. Five individuals arrested, and further investigation is ongoing.
He said, “Acting on a tip-off, Cachar police along with BSF conducted a search operation and seized a vehicle coming from a neighbouring State carrying YABA tablets worth โน10 crore from Chalchapra area of Silchar. Five persons have been apprehended in this regard. Further investigation is going on. Good job Assam Police!”
Yaba, referred to as “crazy medicine” in Thai, is a dangerous drug containing a mixture of methamphetamine and caffeine. It known for its potent and habit-forming stimulant properties and manufactured in Southeast and East Asia.
Arrests Made at Scrap Shop: Heroin Seized in Meherpur Botertol Area, Silchar
Earlier, five individuals taken into custody from a scrap shop in the Meherpur Botertol area of the Cachar district. The group found in possession of more than 300 grams of heroin.
Details of the Arrested Individuals and Heroin Seizure
The individuals arrested at the scrap shop include Amaj Hussain Barbhuyia (30), the owner of the shop, his employee Mostak Ahmed (25), Rajan Ahmed (21) accused of drug delivery, Chumki Begum Mazumdar (over 18 years old), and another individual, Mokbul Alam Laskar (29). The authorities discovered nine instances of soap holding 306.51 grams of heroin in their possession, according to Cachar district Superintendent of Police (SP) Numal Mahatta.
