In the early hours, on February 27, a senior police officer killed after a speeding swift car hit his scooter at Lalmati area of Guwahati.
The senior police identified as Birinchi Kumar Das, Office-in-charge of Ghograpar Police Station in Nalbari. According to reports, the accident took place at around 1:30 am. The Swift car was traveling at high speed, when the driver lost control it first crashed into road divider and then struck to police officer scooter.
The force of the crash was so high that the scooter was completely smashed and police officer died on the spot.
Following the incident, the driver of the car managed to flee from the scene, Leaving the damaged vehicle behind.
A traffic official from Basistha Police station stated that the accident took place at around 1:30 am and the driver of the four-wheeler managed to escape the scene.
Further investigation is going on to traced the fled driver.
