An accused was shot in the thighs after attempting to escape from police custody while concealing weapons in Bilasipara, Assam.
The accused identified as Nur Kalam from Goalpara district of Assam. According to reports, on December 26, a shooting incident took place at the Ranikunj Market Nur Kalam is key suspect, was confronted by police at Paikanadara Second Block village, Bilasipara, during an operation to recover weapons he had hidden. As the police closed in on him, Kalam tried to flee the scene.
During encounter he was shot in the thigh of right leg when tried to escape. Police immediately catch him and taken him to Bilasipara Adarsha Hospital for initial treatment and later transferred to Dhubri Medical College for further care.
Nur Kalam, along with two armed accomplices, was involved in a shooting at the SBI customer service center in Ranikunj Market. The accused opened fire indiscriminately, where three people left injured seriously injured.
