A tragic fire broke out at a house in Guwahati, where mother and daughter killed on Thursday early morning. The father managed to come out from the fire, but suffers serious burn.
The victim identified as Sarasmita Chakravarty and her daughter Dipshikha Chakravarty. Both died on the spot as the fire quickly spread through their home.
The fire suspected to have started due to a short circuit. It spread so fast that there was no time for the family to escape. Subrata Chakravarty, the husband and father, managed to escape but suffered serious burn injuries. He has been admitted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and is currently being treated.
Police reached the scene soon after the fire and sent the bodies for post-mortem.
Further investigation is going on.
