The Government of India has released many scheme for the student as they are future of India. Among this scheme MeitY- Digital India Internship Scheme is another scheme where the government provide internship for the Indian student so that they can gain real-world experience before entering the workforce.
An internship is a chance for students to gain real-world work experience with the help of a knowledgeable supervisor or mentor. It’s about getting hands-on learning by trying out what you’ve learned in the classroom. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has introduced these “Internship Guidelines” to outline how interns can be involved for a set period. This is to benefit students and improve the management of different schemes and programs.

Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is responsible for formulation, implementation and review of national policies in the field of Information Technology, Electronics and Internet (all matters other than licensing of Internet Service Provider). Its mission is to promote e-Governance for empowering citizens. To promoting the inclusive and sustainable growth of the Electronics, IT and ITeS industries. Enhancing Indiaโs role in Internet Governance; adopting a multipronged approach that includes development of human resources; promoting R&D and innovation; enhancing efficiency through digital services; and ensuring a secure cyber space.
Benefits of MeitY- Digital India Internship Scheme
- A token stipend of Rs.10,000/- per month would be paid to an Intern, subject to satisfactory performance, duly certified by his Supervisor/Mentor.
- The intern shall paid after the completion of internship on submission of Report duly accepted by this Ministry.

Eligibility Criteria of MeitY-Digital India Internship Scheme
(i) Indian students from recognized universities in India who have secured at least 60% marks in the last held degree or certificate examination and pursuing:
- B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech (Computer Science & Engineering (CSE)/Computer Science (CS)/ IT/ Electronics & Communications (EC)/ Electronics/ Electrical)
- M.Sc.(CS/IT/ Electronics/ Electrical)
- MCA/DOEACC โBโ level
- LL.B #
- B.A./M.A. in Economics (Hons.)*
#Students of LL.B would considered for internship only in โCyber Lawsโ area.
*Students of B.A./M.A. in Economics (Hons.) would be considered for internship only in โEstimation of Digital Economyโ area. Desirable – knowledge of digitalisation, the factors that can be taken into consideration for estimation of digital economy. Contribution of ecommerce, digital payments and other sectors.
Note:- The students who are in the last semester or who will pass out in summer 2023 will not be eligible for the internship. Only students who are in the previous one year will be eligible.
(ii) Possessing minimum qualifications as above shall not guarantee internship in this Ministry. Candidates having exposure in the area of intended internship with good academic background and having higher qualification, based on need shall be given preference.
Selection Process
- The Interns will shortlisted and selected by the respective organisations/Groups/Divisions for their concerned domain.
- For selection of interns, personal or Skype Interview, may be conducted, if deemed necessary. No TA/DA shall be paid to candidates for attending the personal interview.
- List of selected candidates would be displayed on the web portal.
