A gruesome murder incident took place in Sonai, Cachar, where a husband killed his wife to death with an axe, after six month of marriage on Sunday.
According to information, the incident has occurred at Gobondonagar Part 1 in Sonai, Cachar at around 5pm on Sunday (August 3).
As per Police sources, the 28 years old Suraj Das struck his wife Rituparna Das on the head with an axe during the quarrel. The young 19 years old woman collapsed on the ground, bleeding heavily. Family members rushed to the spot after hearing her screams but found her already dead.

An Eye witness stated that after the attack, Suraj walked out of the house calmly and without fear, strolling along the village road until locals confronted and apprehended him. They alerted police, and a team from Sonai Police Station arrived promptly to arrest the accused.
The police then sent Rituparna’s body to Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) for a post-mortem examination.
Sources from SMCH confirmed that Rituparna was brought to the hospital by her in-laws and declared dead on arrival at 7:40 PM.
“The dead body has been handed over to the police for autopsy,” said an SMCH official.
Family members revealed that Suraj and Rituparna had tied the knot just six months ago. Rituparna, daughter of Kajol Das of Mohankhal in Amraghat, had reportedly been facing frequent domestic issues and quarrels with Suraj since the wedding.
Police have begun interrogating the accused to know the exact motive behind the brutal murder.
