A major LPG Crackdown is underway in Assam. Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has stepped up action against irregularities in gas distribution. So far, officials have carried out 319 investigations across the state.
As a result, three people have been arrested. In addition, authorities issued show-cause notices to 88 distributors. These notices relate to excessive cylinder sales and supply issues. Moreover, six distributors have been suspended after serious violations surfaced.
Officials shared these details during a press conference on Friday. Senior IOCL leaders, including Amarjyoti Bordoloi and Nitin Bhatnagar, addressed the media. They stressed that strict monitoring will continue in the coming days.
Supply Stable Despite Action
Despite the ongoing LPG Crackdown, the fuel situation in Assam remains steady. IOCL has assured that there is no shortage of LPG, either domestic or commercial.
At the same time, petrol and diesel supply is also stable. Production from the state’s four refineries is running smoothly. Therefore, there is no disruption in fuel availability.
Currently, around 9.3 million consumers are being served across Assam. Interestingly, about 84 percent of customers now book LPG cylinders online. This shift has improved efficiency and reduced delays.
Furthermore, Assam is not just meeting its own demand. The state is also supplying fuel to other regions. This highlights strong infrastructure and supply management.
In conclusion, the crackdown targets misuse without affecting consumers. While strict action continues, supply remains uninterrupted. This balanced approach aims to ensure both accountability and reliability in fuel distribution.
