Two police personal found dead and 1 injured found inside a police vehicle in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir in the early hours of Sunday. The Authorities suspected to be a case of fratricide, as official said.
The Udhampur police said that an AK-47 rifle was used to kill of two personnel. Amod Ashok Nagpure, the SSP of Udhampur, stated that the two officers were traveling from Sopore to the Talwara training center.
The SSP speaking to ANI state, โThe incident happened at 6:30 am. They were going from Sopore towards the training centre in Talwara. As per the initial investigation, it has been proven that an AK-47 rifle was used in the incident. Two Police personnel have died. A third Police personnel is safe. They will be taken to GMC Udhampur for postmortem and other procedures. Further investigation is underway to trace out truth behind this incident.”
The incident occurred just days after a Special Police Officer (SPO) from the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) was found dead near Wave Mall in Jammu. Officials said the SPO had traveled from Kathua to take a written exam for a constable position.
The deceased was identified as 21-year-old Kamaldeep Singh, son of Manishwar Singh, from Ward 17 of Kathua town. After completing his exam, Kamaldeep spoke to his father, asking for money to shop at Wave Mall for a wedding. His father suspects foul play and believes his son was murdered. He has requested the Lieutenant Governor, Director General of Police, and SSPs of Kathua and Jammu to investigate the case thoroughly and review the mall’s CCTV footage.
