The man known for Iron Lung is no more. The name of the man is Paul Alexander. He was widely known as Polio Paul. At the age of six, he was struck down by polio. So he forced to live inside the 600-pound metallic structure at the age of six. Due to his disease, he was paralysed from the neck down in 1952, which left him unable to breathe by himself. He rushed to the hospital in Texas after developing the symptoms and woke up inside the iron mechanical lung.

On 11 March 2024, he was died according to the GoFundMe after an update come on, 12 March. They wrote that, โ€œPaul Alexander, โ€œThe Man in the Iron Lungโ€, passed away yesterday. After surviving polio as a child, he lived over 70 years inside of an iron lung.โ€

Polio Paulโ€™s brother expressed gratitude, โ€œI am so gratitude to everybody who donated to my brotherโ€™s fundraiser. It allowed him to live his last few years stress-free. This donation will also pay for his funeral during this difficult time. It is absolutely incredible to read all the comments and know that so many people were inspired by Paul. I am just so grateful.โ€

Paul Alexander who is known as Iron man was a lawyer and a published author. He was born in 1946. He struck down by polio in the year 1950, when he was 6 years old. When he faced the challenges of polio at that time, at least 58,000 reports were reported of polio in United States as a devastating polio outbreak. His story of life influenced many people positively in the world. He used to live in a small room apartment that does not have window.

When he was struck down by polio, he was paralysed from the neck down, and he immediately rushed to the hospital. He underwent an emergency tracheotomy and was placed in an iron lung, a neck-to-toe machine crucial for his survival.

The iron lung utilises a method known as “frog breathing,” leveraging throat muscles to facilitate airflow past the vocal cords. This enables the patient to inhale oxygen incrementally, swallowing it in mouthfuls and guiding it down the throat into the lungs.
