Indian Railway Catering and tourism Corporation (IRCTC), the Indian e-ticketing platform was unavailable to book tatkal ticket in both app and website on Thursday morning. IRCTC is yet to response to the massive outage.
By clicking the app a downtime message was given in the website. It stating, “DUE TO MAINTENANCE ACTIVITY, E-TICKETING SERVICE WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE. PLEASE TRY LATER. FOR CANCELLATION/FILE TDR, PLEASE CALL AT CUSTOMER CARE NO. 14646,08044647999 & 08035734999 OR MAIL AT etickets@irctc.co.in.”
Complaining the outage of the website down one person tweeted, “@RailMinIndia @AshwiniVaishnaw @PMOIndia when this fraud will stop, always at 10am IRCTC website crashes and when you open again all tatkal tickets get booked but only premium tickets with double prices are available, this is clear scam by @IRCTCofficial @raghav_chadha”.
Another person said, “It is 10:11am … still IRCTC is not opening…. IRCTC should be enquired and checked… definitely scams are happening. By the time it opens all the tickets are gone…”
Another third person said, “@IRCTCofficial @RailMinIndia Tatkal booking during the holiday season is a nightmare. Servers crash right when bookings open. This is the worst website I’ve ever used. Why hasn’t this been fixed despite repeated complaints?”
This is the second major IRCTC outage this month. On December 9, 2024, the e-ticketing platform underwent one-hour maintenance. This outrage was caused among the passengers who were trying to book tatkal tickets, which an be made one day before the train’s departure from the originating time: AC class – Booking starts at 10 am and non-AC classes – Booking starts at 11 am.
