In surprise inspection at Hotel Daaysco Ole Aalo in Paltan Bazar, Guwahati, GMC officials has uncovered multiple serious violation related to food safety, hygiene and trade license misuse.

The raid conducted on Friday, which resulted on spot penalty of Rs 1.5 lakh imposed on the hotel management.

Major Violations Found in Hotel of Guwahati:

  1. Misuse of Trade License
    The hotel was found operating four banquet halls under a single trade license, a clear violation intended to bypass regulatory scrutiny and mislead consumers.
  2. Unhygienic Food Storage Conditions
    Inspectors found poor hygiene in the storage areas for food, posing serious health risks for guests and violating food safety norms.
  3. Mixing of Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian Food
    Vegetarian and non-vegetarian items were stored and handled together, breaching standard food segregation practices and disrespecting dietary preferences.
  4. No Waste Management System
    The hotel lacked a proper waste disposal mechanism, reflecting gross negligence towards cleanliness and environmental responsibility.

Following the violation, an on-spot penalty of Rs 1.5 lakh imposed in the name of the hotel management and also collected.

With the penalty the hotel authorities also submitted a written complaint to the authorities admitting to the violations and assured corrective measures to address the issues pointed out.

The GMC has issued a stern warning to all commercial establishments in Guwahati, especially in high-footfall zones, stating that similar surprise inspections will continue. Strict penalties will enforced against those found violating municipal and public health standards.

This crackdown is part of a broader citywide initiative to ensure hygiene, consumer safety, and regulatory compliance ahead of the festive and tourist seasons.
