Hailakandi police has carried out night operation across Hailakandi on Friday night (August 1). In This operation police managed to arrest 27 thieves and many stolen items were recovered.
The operation was planned and executed at the same time across seven police station areas in the Hailakandi district. Each police station, backed by large police teams, conducted raids to catch regular offenders. The Hailakandi Sadar Police Station arrested 12 people, while other stations arrested the rest: Katlicherra (1), Algapur (3), Lala (4), Ramnathpur (4), and Panchgram (3).

Under Ramnathpur police Station, police managed to arrest four notorious thieves after investigating multiple theft incidents in the area. Items and sharp weapons used in the theft have been recovered from the custody of the accused. During the investigation, the police recovered 4 Amaron batteries and 2 inverters from their house, which were used in theft-related crimes, according to police sources.
The arrested accused are:
Sabir Ahmed Laskar (30), Village: Palichhara Part-2
Abul Hussain Barbhuiyan (35), Village: Palichhara Part-2
Fazmul Islam Barbhuiyan (22), Village: Palichhara Part-1
Nazrul Islam Majumdar (31), Village: Madhabpur
During the raids in Hailakandi, police recovered:
- Two cars (an Alto and a Santro)
- Four batteries, two inverters
- Three mobile phones
- Iron rods, GI wires, and other sharp/blunt tools believed to be used in house break-ins
According to Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) of Hailakandi, Samiradatta Barua, all 27 suspects were presented in court on Saturday.
