A shocking incident took place in Karimganj District of Assam, a mentally ill woman was rape by a group of man. Karimganj Police led by Partha Pratim Das swiftly launched an investigation and arrested five men in connection with the crime.
According to reports, the heinous crime has taken place on July 1, 2024 night, when the victim mentally ill woman was wandering the streets in area of Kayasthagram, Nilam Bazar, Karimganj. In that time the accused forcefully took her in an autorickshaw and raped her.
When the Karimganj Police received information about the heinous crime of gang rape Superintendent of Police Partha Pratim Das ordered an immediate operation. After getting the order ADSP Prathap Das launched an investigation and arrested two man on July 1. The next on July 2, Karimganj Police arrested all other three accused. Within 24 Hours of the incident police arrested all Five accused in connection of Gang Rape case.
The accused identified as Fakhr Mia, Abdul Mastaq, Shamim Uddin, Riyaz Uddin, and Pranesh Sharma.
The Karimganj police SP Partha Pratim Das revealed about the shocking details of the hienious crime. The accused confessed about the crime through interrogation. They are now facing charges under relevant section of law. Police also continuing their investigation to gather more evidence about the crime.
The Police also recovered the unidentified mentally ill woman from the scene.
The local people of the area expressed their anger and demanded for strict punishment for the accused to prevent such heinous crime from happening again.
The case has been registered under the new criminal law, BNS Act (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita). Karimganj Police are working hard to finish the investigation and take legal action against the accused.
