A terror accused lodged in Sabarmati Central Jail, identified as Ahmed Mohiuddin Abdul Qadir Jilani, was allegedly assaulted by fellow inmates on Tuesday morning, triggering a police investigation into the incident.
According to Police Inspector K. Y. Vyas, Jilani is one of the three accused arrested by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in case no. 10/2025. The other two accused in the case are Azad and Mohammed Salim. All three were sent to Sabarmati Jail after their arrest.
Inspector Vyas said that Jilani suffered an eye injury after being attacked by another inmate inside the prison. Jail authorities provided immediate medical treatment before shifting him to the Civil Hospital for further care.
“On the morning of November 18, Jilani was assaulted by a fellow inmate, resulting in an eye injury. He received medical attention and was later shifted to Civil Hospital. Preliminary findings indicate that Anil Kumar, Shivam Sharma, and one more inmate were involved in the attack. Further investigation is underway,” Vyas said.

Earlier, on November 9—before the Delhi blast near Red Fort—the Gujarat ATS had arrested Dr. Ahmed Mohiuddin Syed, Mohd Suhel, and Azad for allegedly planning terror attacks across India. They were arrested near the Adalaj Toll Plaza while allegedly supplying weapons.
The ATS recovered two Glock pistols, one Beretta pistol, 30 live cartridges, and four litres of castor oil from their possession. Officials said the trio was attempting to manufacture a lethal chemical compound known as Ricin.
Dr. Y. K. Gupta, former Chief of the AIIMS National Poison Information Centre, warned that Ricin is highly toxic—even 1 milligram can be fatal—and there is no specific antidote, making it a known agent of biological terrorism.
