A tragic incident came to light where a 16-year-old boy of class 9 died of injuries on Sunday, July 28, after he was being brutally attacked by a mob a week earlier in Bongaingaon.
The boy identified, Iyasin Ali of Abadi village in Bongaigaon, Assam.
According to information, on July 21, the incident took place after a dispute over a goat belonging to Iyasin’s father, Gazir Ali, wandered into neighbouring farm.
It is reported that there was an argument between Gazir Ali and the farm owner, which seemed to settle after they both went home. But later that evening, tension escalated when Iyasin Ali was on his way to school and was confronted by the same group of people—including the farm owner, Alam Ali, and his companions, Zakir Falu, Rajab Ali, Isaw Ali, and a few others. A total of 10–12 individuals were in the group.
The confrontation became violent when they attacked Iyasin, and soon more people joined, including his family. In this attack, 7 members of Iyasin family also injured.
Iyasin was critically injured in the attack and taken him to a nearby hospital. Later, he was transferred to Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital in Barpeta.
Despite Medical Treatment Iyasin died on July 28. His family and the locals demanded a Bongaigaon police for investigation and strict punishment for those responsible for the attack.
