A suspicious drone, which reportedly of Chinese make found from India-Bangladesh border, in Chorakuri area of Sribhumi district of Assam, close to the Kusiyara River on May 8, afternoon. The incident has raised the authorities and security agencies, especially in light of the India-Pakistan tension.
The drone was found lying unattended in an open field, which immediately raised concerns about where it came from and why it was there. Local residents informed the authorities, and police quickly reached the spot to secure the area.
Local authorities launched investigation. Officials are working to trace from where the Drone came from and whether it had any surveillance or hostile purpose. The drone has camera on it.
“A normal drone with a camera was found in the border area of Sribhumi today near the Kusiyara River. The initial theories are that it could be from across the border with some malevolent intention although it is yet to be confirmed,” said SP Partha Pratim Das to Barak Bulletin.
He also stated, “As of now, we could ascertain that it was Chinese-made. Along the border area, drones are not permitted to fly, and the locals from the other side of the border also don’t operate drones, so finding this drone here is highly suspicious.”
The drone has recovered at a time when Operation Sindoor, a decisive strike carried out by Indian armed forces in the early hours of the day.
Further investigation is going on.
