Operation Sindoor: Government Briefs Media on Pahalgam Attack, Highlights Pakistan Link

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri addressed the media on Operation Sindoor, revealing chilling details of the April 22, 2025 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir. He stated that terrorists linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Pakistan brutally killed 25 Indian tourists and one Nepali citizen. “The attackers shot victims in the head at close range, in front of their families. Survivors were deliberately terrorised and ordered to spread the message of this brutality,” he said.
Misri emphasized that the goal of the attack was to disrupt the growing tourism sector in Jammu and Kashmir. “Tourism was beginning to thrive again in the region, and this act of terror was aimed at reversing that progress.”
The Resistance Front (TRF), a known offshoot of LeT, has claimed responsibility. Misri confirmed that Pakistani links to the attack have been clearly established. “It is concerning that on April 25, Pakistan attempted to pressure the removal of TRF’s name from official statements. This only further exposes its ties to terror networks.”
He described the attack as one of “extreme barbarity” and a calculated attempt to destroy the sense of normalcy returning to Kashmir.
“Intelligence reports indicate more such attacks are being planned. Therefore, this morning, India acted decisively to prevent further cross-border terrorism. Our response was necessary, targeted, and restrained,” Misri concluded, affirming that India’s strikes focused on eliminating terror infrastructure without escalating tensions.
