The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two accused, including the DGM of Oil India Limited (OIL) Dulijan, Assam and DGM (Sales & Marketing) of a private limited, for accepting demanded bribe of Rs 7 lakh. The bribe was linked to helping certain companies win contracts and get their bills cleared.
CBI has registered a case against 4 accused on May 3 in case of bribery
- The DGM of Oil India in Duliajan,
- The Managing Director and DGM (Sales & Marketing) of United Drilling Tools Ltd, a Noida-based company,
- The company itself, and
- Some unknown government officials.
According to the complaint, the Oil India official demanded 70 grams of gold jewellery as a bribe for himself and others to award contracts. When the company could not arrange the gold, they gave ₹7 lakh in cash instead. Out of this, ₹3,73,550 was used to buy gold coins in Noida, while the remaining ₹3.34 lakh was kept in cash.
The CBI caught red handed the officials with Rs 3.34 lakh cash and the documents related to purchase gold reported by ANI.
CBI also raided several places connected to the accused in Delhi, Noida, Dibrugarh, and Tinsukia. During the searches, they found gold jewellery (believed to be bribe-related), over ₹30 lakh in cash, mobile phones, and several important documents. The arrested officials produced in court on May 5.
