CBI arrested an official controller of Defense Accounts in Guwahati, in charge of bribery case sources said on Sunday.
According to sources, the Defense officer identified as Mrinmoy Ghosh.
He was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Ghosh had allegedly asked for a bribe of ₹2.72 lakh to clear a bill and was caught red-handed while accepting ₹43,000 as part of that amount.
Sources said the money came from a man named Bikash Sarkar. The CBI has also arrested Sarkar in connection with the case.
The investigation is still going on.
