Today, October 16, Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam team arrested a government employee for accepting demanded bribe from complainant.
The government employee identified as Partha Hazarika, Office Superintendent, Excise Department near the main gate of Janata Bhawan, Dispur, Assam. Hazarika was trapped red-handed by the team while accepting a part of demanded bribe. He accepted Rs. 24,500/- from the complainant for issuing bar license.
According to some reports, he initially demanded a total of Rs.1 lakh for the bar license.
He had already received Rs. 40,000 from the complainant as part bribe before today. The Vigilance team has conducted todayโs operation based on the complaint and was presented to witness the transaction.
For further investigation, raids are being conducted to Partha Hazarikaโs house in the Jaya Nagar locality of Guwahati, into the matter. The Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption stated through social media, โToday @DIR_VAC_ASSAM trapped red handed Partha Hazarika, Office Superintendent, Excise Deptt near the main gate of Janata Bhawan, Dispur after he accepted bribe of Rs. 24,500/- from the complainant for issuing bar licence.โ
