Assam Budget for the year 2025-2026 on March 10, presented by Hon’ble Finance Minister Ajanta Neog at 11:00 am at Assam Assembly.
The Assam budget has witnessed a 250% rise in budgetary expenditure while the capital expenditure has risen to Rs 24,950 Crore in 2024-25.
Assam Finance Minister Ajanta Neog presented a Rs 2.63 lakh crore budget for 2025, with a deficit of Rs 620.27 crore.
Key Details of Assam Budget 2025-2026
- The Assam Budget 2025-26 offered exemption of professional tax for those earning up to ₹15,000 per month. It would benefit over 1.43 lakh taxpayers” Minister said.
- Rs 5000 one-time financial assistance to 6.8 lakh existing permanent and casual tea garden workers. The government has allocated Rs 342 Cr for the initiated.
- ₹100 crore has been allocated in the Assam Budget 2025-26. The funds will support the overall development of Barak Valley’s three districts. The allocation will be managed through the Barak Valley Development Department.
- Farmer College will made in Hailakandi.
- Under the Jibon Prerana Scheme, graduates will receive ₹2,500 per month as motivational support. The graduate passing out in 2025 from Government colleges or university of Assam will eligible, for one year. Rs 25 crore allotted for the scheme.

6. The government has allocated ₹5,000 crore for the Orunodoi scheme. It will benefit over 37 lakh women across the state.
7. ₹3,038 crore allocated for Mukhya Mantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan to support women entrepreneurs. The scheme will launch on April 1, 2025. The scheme will eligible under SHG group.

8. ₹391 crore allocated for Mukhiya Mantri Nijut Moina to promote girls’ higher education and combat child marriage.
9. To support entrepreneurship, ₹773 crore has been allocated for the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan scheme.
10. The government has provided 1.2 lakh jobs, exceeding its promise of 1 lakh government jobs. Plans are in place to create 40,000+ additional jobs this year.
11. To Empowering Families with Essential Subsidies Budget allotted ₹370 crore.
Subsidies on Essential Items From October 2025:
- Masur Dal (1 kg): ₹25/kg subsidy
- Sugar (1 kg): ₹20/kg subsidy
- Salt (1 kg): ₹10/kg subsidy
- Additional Benefit: Extra 1 kg Masur Dal for families with more than 5 members.
