To made Electricity Affordable for all or to ease the financial burden on households, the Assam government has announced a ₹1 per unit reduction in electricity charges for consumers using up to 120 units per month. The announcement has done during Assam Budget 2025 announcement by Hon’ble Finance Minister Ajanta Neog.
The initiative aims to support lower- and middle-class people.

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Stated, “From May 1, 2025 we will give a rebate of ₹1 per unit on consumption of electricity up to 120 units for domestic and Jeevan Dhara consumers.”
This subsidy will benefit several middle-class consumers reducing their monthly electricity expenses. The initiative subsidy of electricity bill, with the government’s commitment to providing financial relief and ensuring affordable energy access for all.
