Additional SP of Cachar Suspended: In a significant turn of events, the Government of Assam’s Home (A) Department has taken swift action, issuing an order for the immediate suspension of Kalyan Kr. Das, APS, Additional SP (Crime), on November 30. This decision follows the findings of a comprehensive report by the one-man inquiry Commission of Justice B.K. Sharma, revealing grave anomalies and malpractices within the Assam Police Service Commission (APSC) Exam.

The suspension of Additional SP Das comes in the wake of the inquiry commission’s report, which sheds light on rampant irregularities and unethical practices during the selection process for candidates in the Combined Competitive examination, 2013/2014.

The report specifically implicates Raksh Sharma Paul, the Chairman of the APSC during the mentioned period, in orchestrating misconduct that has raised serious doubts about the fairness and transparency of the entire recruitment process.

In response to what is deemed gross misconduct, corruption, and moral turpitude, the government has suspended Kalyan Kr. Das immediately. This suspension executed under Rule 6 (1) of the Assam Services  Rules, 1964. Simultaneously, an ongoing investigation into criminal offenses underscores the commitment to accountability and transparency.

Preventive Measures: Upholding Integrity and Transparency

The government emphasizes the severity of these actions, considering them a threat to public service. The suspension aims to prevent any potential hindrance to public service. And It also avoid possible embarrassment to the government. This decisive action remains independent of the ongoing departmental proceedings. That initiated through a Show Cause notice issued on the same date.

Administrative Changes: Relocating Headquarters During Suspension

During the suspension period, the headquarters of Kalyan Kr. Das will be relocated to the Assam Police Headquarters. It subject to necessary reviews. This administrative change is a preventive measure reinforcing the government’s commitment to upholding the integrity of public service and ensuring accountability within its institutions.
