On 22 May a crackdown against was done by the Karimganj Police. A total of 8 individual which included groom and his father arrested for practicing unlawful child marriage.
The incident reported in Patharkandi area of Karimganj, Assam. According to reports the 21 years old groom, Bidal Uddin was set to marry a girl which age is under 18 years.
The marriage was taking place in groom house. Several relatives with father named Sabbar Uddin. The bride rescued from the marriage venue, where the girl dressed as a bribe.
Total of 8 individual arrested Groom, groom’s father and her maternal uncles Nizam Uddin and Abbas Uddin, Relatives Ali Hussaon, Saad Uddin, Dilwar Hussain and the Kazi Matbur Rahman.
In swift action the Karimganj Police arrested all this people from the illegal child marriage. They reached in the marriage at the point of the Qubool ritual and rescued the girl.
It had been said that the Groom was in love with the girl. Despite of strict action against the child marriage by the government marriage they decided to proceed the wedding ceremony that took place in night.
After the arrest they were all presented in front of Karimganj Sessions Court. In it they were ordered their detention in district jail. The minor bride is handed over to the Child Welfare Association to ensure the security of the girl.
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma is strictly against the child marriage. He warns the people of the state and should be stop child marriage. Before this marriage over than 3000 persons has been already arrested for violating the rules.
