Biggest Drugs Haul Ever in Assam! On, 4 April the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police, in collaboration with Cachar Police, done a historic raid in Silchar, Assam, India. A huge amount of drugs in 105 cases of soap along with several polythene packets containing approximately 21 kilograms of suspected heroin recovered.

This operation launched after Parthasarathi Mahanta, the Inspector General of Assam Police and Chief of the STF, arrived in Silchar.

Over ten days ago, the authorities got an secret information about the drugs. According to this information, On 4 April the police launched an operation where they intercepted a Maruti Suzuki Brezza bearing registration MZ 01 X 7204 at Silchar – Aizawl Road, in the area of Sildubi, of Cachar District.

From this vehicle they recovered 105 Cases with several polythene packets containing 21 kg of heroin and arrested one individual.

Officials said about the Drugs Seized in Silchar

The individual, identified as C Lalliana from Aizawl. The chief of the STF, Parthasarathi Mahanta, said, “About 10 days ago, we got a secret information about a big load of suspected heroin meant to be smuggled through Cachar from a nearby state. So, we planned carefully, choosing Silchar as the spot to stop it. Today, our plan worked, and we stopped the vehicle successfully.”

Mahanta explained that the stuff they took might be the raw, pure form of heroin, which usually mixed with other things before sold. So, the 21 kilograms they found could turn into 50 kilograms after mixing it with things like caffeine. He said that this seizure is worth about Rs 210 crore in the market, making it one of the biggest raids in recent times.

Heroin a strong drug made from a plant called the opium poppy. People use it illegally because it makes them feel really good and relaxed. But it’s dangerous because it can make people addicted, overdose, or have serious health problems later on. Stopping people from selling it is a big challenge for police everywhere.

Praising the police for swift action, Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma applauded the operation on social media. He said: “In a big step towards a #DrugsFreeAssam, 21kg of heroin has been seized in Silchar in a joint operation by STF Assam & Cachar Police One person has been arrested and investigation is underway to crack the supply grid.
