Two Indian Army Soldier was killed in a close-range firing with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday, marking the ninth day of the ongoing gunbattle.
This, among one of the longest encounters between terrorists and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir in recent times, as the terrorists deeply entrenched in a dense forest area.
The two Indian Army Soldier, who sacrifice their life during duty are L/Nk Pritpal Singh and Sep Harminder Singh.

Two more soldiers injured in an overnight gunfight in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district, bringing the total number of injured personnel to 10.
Hundreds of security personnel engaged in one of the region’s largest anti-terror operations to flush out heavily armed terrorists hiding in dense alpine forests. Drones and attack helicopters used to target suspected hideouts, with drones even dropping explosives on identified positions. The terrorists believed to be highly trained in jungle warfare, forcing troops, including special forces and para-troopers, to advance cautiously.
The encounter began last Friday when the Army, police, and CRPF launched a joint operation after receiving intelligence about a large group of terrorists in Akhal area. In the initial exchange of fire, one local terrorist killed.
Top police and army officers are visiting the site regularly. “Yes, it’s taking time because of the difficult terrain and forest cover. But we will track them down,” said J&K DGP Nalin Prabhath, who is personally overseeing the operation.
Police sources say the operation launched based on information about five terrorists, including at least three foreigners trained in guerrilla tactics. Only a few local terrorists remain in Kashmir with such training.
The Kulgam encounter comes just days after security forces killed three Pakistani terrorists in the upper reaches of Srinagar. These men were responsible for the April 22 Pahalgam massacre that claimed 26 lives. Union Home Minister Amit Shah informed Parliament that the operation to neutralise them meticulously planned.
