A Youth has beaten by a group of locals for harassing a girl, at Lathimara Ferry Ghat in Katigorah, Cachar district on Thursday.
The youth has been caught and thrashed before handing him over to the police on Thursday.
According to reports, two college girls were allegedly harassed by a youth name Ziabur Rahman and another youth at the ferry ghat. When two local men tried to intervene, the accused attacked them with sticks, leaving them seriously injured.
When the Ziabur Rahman tried to flee from the scene the locals caught him and beaten by locals.
The police took injured Rahman to Katigorah Model Hospital but was later shifted to Silchar Medical College Hospital (SMCH) due to the severity of his injuries. The injured locals, identified as Hifzur Rahman and Abdus Salam, who are also undergoing treatment.
Police have registered a case and further investigation is going on.
