Every year World Environment Day observed on 5th June, to raise awareness about environment issues such as Climate change, Plastic pollution, Biodiversity loss, Deforestation, water and air pollution and many more.
World Environment Day established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972 during the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment. It was first observed in 1973. Now it becomes the largest global environmental outreach platform, celebrated in over 150 countries each year.
World Environment Day 2025 Theme
The theme of World Environment Day 2025 is Beat Plastic Pollution. According to UNEP officials, “Plastic pollution exacerbates the deadly impacts of the triple planetary crisis: the crisis of climate change, the crisis of nature, land and biodiversity loss, and the crisis of pollution and waste. Globally, an estimated 11 million tonnes of plastic waste leak into aquatic ecosystems each year, while microplastics accumulate in the soil from sewage and landfills, due to the use of plastics in agricultural products.”
It added, “This year’s World Environment Day observance comes as countries make progress towards securing a global treaty to end plastic pollution, including in the marine environment.”

Respected Principal, teachers, and my dear friends — I feel really happy and proud to stand here today and speak a few words on the occasion of World Environment Day 2025.
Today we are celebrating World Environment Day 2025, and this year’s theme is “Beat Plastic Pollution.”
Plastic is everywhere — in our bags, bottles, rivers, and even in the soil. It’s harming animals, polluting water, and affecting our health too.
But the good news is — we can fix this!
We can carry cloth bags, reuse water bottles, avoid single-use plastics, and most importantly, spread awareness.
Every small step we take helps the Earth heal.
Let’s promise to protect our environment — not just today, but every day.
