A shocking incident occurred in Sribhumi district of Assam on Tuesday when a woman was attacked inside an empty bus while traveling from Badarpur to Sribhumi. The attempted assault has sparked outrage, raising concerns over women’s safety in public transport.
According to reports, the woman signaled the bus to stop, when she entered the bus, she noticed that there was no passenger in the bus. She feels uncomfortable and tried to leave the bus, but conductor allegedly forced her back inside and three man allegedly attempt to assault her.
When sense about the danger she shared her live location to her father via WhatsApp. Upon noticing this, the accused diverted the bus to the Lamajua area, where he reportedly physically assaulted her before abandoning her in an injured state.

The locals later rescued the woman and immediately rushed her to Karimganj Civil Hospital. Following this incident the Hindu Raksha Dal staged a protest outside the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) office, demanding the immediate arrest of the accused. This protest led to road block for several hours. But no Action taken, so today, again they blocked the bus service.
Police later intervened and the protestor has given 24 hours to authorities and warned them of larger protest, if the accused not arrested.
