Two stalls selling Bangladeshi goods were removed from Global Expo in Silchar on December 4, 2024 after Bajrang Dals demands.
Yesterday, Bajrang Dal members demanded that no products of Bangladesh to be sold. This decision was taken due to tension in neigbouring country, citing attacks on Hindus and other minorities there.
A team of Bajrang Dal meets the organizer of the Global Expo in Silchar and told them that no Bangladeshi product to be sold in the expo and all the advertisement materials of Bangladesh must be removed.
Bajrang Dal spokesperson Mintu Nath said, “No Bangladeshi product will be allowed to be sold in any shop in the entire Cachar district as long as atrocities against the Hindus continue in the neighbouring country.” The protesters also visited the Bangladesh visa center at Goldighi Mall and demanded that the word “Bangladesh” be removed from its signboard.
To maintain security, extra police were deployed at the Town Club Field, where the expo is taking place, and around the visa office.
“The situation is under control, and we are keeping a close watch across the district to prevent any problems,” a police officer said.
