Two youth from Mizoram Sentenced to 10 years jail attempting to smuggle 4.08 kilograms of methamphetamine through Silchar Kumbhirgram Airport.
The verdict was delivered on June 24, Tuesday by judge Biprajit Roy of the NDPS Court in Cachar.
The Two Mizoram Youth are Joseph Lalnunmawia (23), residents of Aizwal and F.Lalmangaizuala (33) from Tuikual North, Aizwal. They were arrested on October 19, 2023, while they were attempting to smuggle the drugs through Silchar Airport. They both attempting to board a flight to Kolkata from Silchar Kumbhigram Airport.
The airport security recovered four plastic packets containing 4.08 kg methamphetamine in their luggage and handed them over Udharbond Police Station. During the recovery a case registered under Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic substance (NDPS) Act.
After through several trail the court found the both guilty Under Section 22 (c) of the NDPS Act. Court Sentenced each 10 years imprisonment and Rs 1 Lakh fine. In default of payment, they will have to serve more six month in jail.
