People of Assam is enjoying the festival of Rongali Bihu, in the mid of the festive a heinous crime took place in Dhubri.
A mentally challenged young woman was allegedly gang raped by two men in a paddy field near Saptagram under Dhubri district.
According to reports, the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, where the woman tied up and brutally gang raped by two men near Saptagram, Dhubri district of Assam.
After getting about the incident, local police immediately rushed and rescue the woman in a semi-conscious and critical condition from the field. They admitted the woman to a hospital and currently undergoing treatment.
Saptagram police arrested accused identified as Bakul Nath of Barikuti village and Niranjan Das of Shantipur village.
Disturbingly, both individuals are repeat offenders with previous criminal records related to abduction and other charges, raising serious concerns about repeat crimes and public safety in the region.
Further investigation is going on.
The incident has sparked massive outrage across Dhubri district. Locals residents demanded strict action against the accused.
