Two illegal Bangladeshi immigrants a man and woman were caught by locals and handed over to police on Sunday morning while trying to cross India-Bangladesh border in Cachar.
On Sunday morning, three individual seen wandering around India-Bangladesh border illegally in Katigorah, where the locals of that place managed to caught two and one managed to escape.
Locals, growing suspicious of their behaviour, and confronted the trio. While one of them managed to escape from the scene and the remaining were handed over to police. Police sources said that the duo has plans to back to Bangladesh using Katigorah, India-Bangladesh Border.
Initial investigation suggest that the arrested people had been working in Gujrat as labourers after entering India illegally several years ago. Fearing the crackdown, they were attempting to cross the border via Katigorah to back Bangladesh.
This is not the first cases, between May 24 to June 25, a total of 88 illegal immigrants have been intercepted in Cachar alone and pushed back by authorities through international border.
