Tension escalated along the Indo-Bangladesh international border in the Thakuranbari area of Mankachar on Tuesday after a clash between India’s Border Security Force (BSF) and Bangladesh Border Guards (BGB).
According to official reports, the BSF was compelled to fire four aerial warning shots to disperse an agitated crowd and prevent the situation from spiraling out of control.

The incident happened during an operation where Indian officials were trying to send back 14 Bangladeshi nationals who had entered India illegally. However, Bangladeshi forces reportedly stopped the process near the international border zero line, leading to a tense situation.
Sources claim the Bangladeshi forces not only obstructed the repatriation process but also engaged in a heated verbal exchange with BSF personnel and crossed into the sensitive zero line zone. Soon, hundreds of Bangladeshi villagers gathered at the spot in support of their border guards.
To control the situation and avoid violence, the BSF fired four warning shots in the air. This helped to disperse the crowd and bring the situation under control.
Authorities from both nations are expected to initiate diplomatic dialogues to de-escalate tensions and prevent future confrontations. Meanwhile, the situation at the Thakuranbari border remains under close watch.
