Famous Tamil actor Vijay known as Thalapathy on February 2 announced his entry in politics. As the upcoming Lok Sabha election is coming. He named his party as Tamilaga Vetri Kazham. He said that his party will not contest in the upcoming 2024 election but he will contest in the 2026 Assembly polls.
Today in a statement Vijay said that, โWe are not going to contest the 2024 elections and we are not going to support any party. We have made the decision for General and executive Council meeting.โ
He added, โOur goal is 2026. Following approval from the ECI, post the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, we’ll finalize our symbol, flag, ideologies, policies, and engage with the public to kickstart our political journey. We won’t participate or endorse any party in the 2024 elections.”
In the statement he further said, โCurrently our party gas applied for the registration of the party by keeping in mind the time required for the workโฆโ He also said, โPolitics is not only a hobby for me but it is my deepest passion and I want to devote it in myself fully.โ
He is known for the film Master, Bigil, Beast, Puli, Thuppakki, Mersal and Kaththi. He last seen in the film Leo.
Speaking on his film, he said, โI have willingly committed to fulfill my responsibilities for another film project, ensuring it doesn’t interfere with my political duties. My dedication to public service in Tamil Nadu is my way of repaying their trust.โ
He also added that, โTo the best of my efforts, Vijay Makkal Iyakkam has been actively involved in numerous public welfare initiatives for several years. However, essential political changes require more than a non-profit organization; political influence is necessary. In the current political landscape, we witness both misguided governance and corrupt practices, alongside divisive and discriminatory politics. These obstacles hinder our progress and unity from both directions.โ
“People, especially in Tamil Nadu, yearn for honest politicsโselfless, visionary, and corruption-free governance, devoid of caste and religious divisions. Our politics will align with the Indian Constitution, respecting Tamil Nadu’s state rights and embracing the principle of equality at birth,” the statement emphasized.
“After my father and mother, the Tamil people are the one who given me everything which includesโname, fame, and wealth. It’s time to give back. Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam will be led by me. Our party leaders have traveled to Delhi to register with the ECI, submitting the bylaws and party structure,” the statement elaborated.
Vijay’s venture into Tamil Nadu politics follows a tradition of cinema personalities entering politics, akin to Kamal Haasan, MG Ramachandran, Sivaji Ganesan, and others.
