A stabbing incident took place at a Shopping Mall in Sydney, Australia. On Saturday, Australian authorities reported multiple stabbings at a bustling Sydney shopping center. The incident unfolded at the large Westfield Bondi Junction mall, bustling with Saturday afternoon shoppers. Hundred of people swiftly evacuated as police swiftly moved in to contain the situation.
According to reports by NCA NewsWire a man was shown with a knife and allegedly stabbed people before encountering the accused.
The mall has closed off, and authorities have advised people to stay away from the area. New South Wales Ambulance informed AFP that one man, believed to be one of the attackers, had been shot dead by the police.
The motive remains unclear.
Number of people injured in Sydney Mall Stabbing Incident
According to some reports eight people have stabbed at the shopping center. Among the eight stabbed people one is a nine year old child, NSW Ambulance said.
Emergency services responded to Westfield Bondi Junction, a major shopping center in Sydney’s eastern region, around 4 pm following reports of multiple stabbings.
“A critical incident has been initiated following the shooting of a male at Bondi Junction,” stated the police.
An alleged perpetrator has fatally shot by law enforcement, according to an ambulance spokesperson.

An Eye Witnesses described scenes of panic as shoppers fled to safety and police secured the area. Some took shelter in a nearby supermarket for about an hour.

An ABC Sound engineer was present inside the shop during the incident. He said, โ”And suddenly we heard a shot or maybe two shots and we didn’t know what to do. Then the very capable person in the store took us to the back where it can be locked. She then locked the store and then she then let us through the back and now we are out.”
Australia PM Anthony Albanese shows condolence to the victims. He state on X, โI have been briefed by the AFP on the devastating events at Bondi Junction. Tragically, multiple casualties have been reported and the first thoughts of all Australians are with those affected and their loved ones. Our hearts go out to those injured and we offer our thanks to those caring for them as well as our brave police and first responders.โ
