Silchar Medical College & Hospital has dismissed six casual workers after they found guilty over allegation of financial misconduct. The dismissal order issued on 17 July by hospitalโs superintendent, Dr. Deb Kumar Chakraborty. Additionally, three employees from Radiology department has transferred as a punishment.
According to Hospitalโs superintendent, Dr. Deb Kumar Chakraborty, the financial irregularities in the Central Laboratory had reported just in two months after he assumed his responsibilities at the hospital for nine months ago.
Due escalating the situation, Deputy Superintendent Dr. Hrituraj Thakuria was assigned to investigate the matter. According to reports, six casual workers Muzibur Rahman, Mazhar Bhuiya, Paulang Rongmai, Bhramananda Karmi, Saumen Ghosh, Aziz Sheikh and Rasu Chandra suspended.
Superintendent, Dr. Deb Kumar Chakraborty stated that the laboratoryโs management had conducted multiple tests for other labs in exchange for single barcode. Because of this reason three employee of the Radiology department has transferred and created a committee to investigate.
He also emphasized that the hospital has a zero tolerance policy towards corruption. He promised that no form of corruption would be tolerate inside the Silchar Medical College & Hospital.
However, the Casual workers called the hospital decision as unethical. The workers believed that firing the workers is a way for the hospital authorities to cover their own mistakes or corruption.
