A major Silchar Fire broke out early Tuesday morning on Hospital Road, opposite the Veterinary Hospital. As a result, four roadside shops were destroyed. Several families are now struggling to cope. Initial estimates suggest losses worth several lakhs. However, the exact cause is still unknown.
According to locals, the fire spread quickly. Within minutes, it engulfed two motorcycle garages, a lathe machine workshop, and a pan shop. Firefighters rushed to the spot. They managed to control the flames. Still, most structures had already turned to ashes.
Livelihoods Hit, Workers Left Without Income
Eyewitnesses described heavy losses. Many machines and vehicles were completely destroyed. For instance, welding tools, scooties, and motorcycles were burnt. Around 15 to 20 daily wage workers depended on these shops. Now, they have no source of income.
The affected shops include Laxmi Welding Work, Amarali Auto Work, and others owned by local residents. Families of the victims are in shock. One woman said her family business was their only support. Now, they feel helpless.
Meanwhile, locals have asked for urgent help. They urged leaders to step in and support the victims. Authorities have started an investigation. Yet, the cause of the Silchar Fire remains unclear.
